Oscar-nominated filmmaker Stephen Daldry is in early talks for the pic, the film will center on the Jedi master who has been played by both Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor.
Fans will be delighted with the news that Oscar-nominated director is in early talk to take of the task of a Star Wars stand-alone movie on the life of character of Obi-Wan-Kenobi.
According to THR reports “talks are at the earliest of stages and that the project has no script. If a deal is made, Daldry would oversee the development and writing with Lucasfilm brass.”
Lucasfilm and Disney are already working on several projects and Obi-Wan-Kenobi is one of them along with Han Solo movie, which is now in the final stages of shooting. The Han Solo movie has a new director now Ron Howard, and Lucasfilm has hinted to bring back some old characters Yoda and bounty hunter Boba Fett, among other characters.
In the orginial Star Wars trilogy, Obi-Wan was a wise and powerful warrior. He was a brief mentr to young Luke Skywalker before being cut down by Darth Vader. Alec Guinness’ portrayal of Kenobi garnered him an Oscar nomination.
Ewan McGregor, then went on to play the role in the Star Wars Prequel quoted by THR reports “has said he would be open to playing the character again. Sources stress, however, that since there is no script, no actor is attached.”
