The sequel to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor has been delayed by the development team as it won’t be ready on the originally announced date in August.
The new game follow up the old Middle-earth: Shadow of War, which was released back in 2014. The new installment Middle-earth: Shadow of War will now be out on October 10, 2017.
The sudden shift in date has come as a surprise to many, based on the current roaster of game releasing this year, it certainly leaves Shadow of War in a position where it has to face a tough competition.
An update from the development teams announced “Middle-earth: Shadow of War expands gameplay in every dimension, including the massive open world, the story, the RPG systems, and personal player stories of the Nemesis System, As with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Monolith is committed to delivering the highest quality experience. In order to do this, we have made the difficult decision to move our launch date to ensure that Middle-earth: Shadow of War will deliver on that promise.
“We understand that it might be disappointing to have to wait a little longer for the release and are sorry for the delay, but we are working hard to make an amazing game. We’re excited to show more at E3.”
E3 is just around the corner and we are expecting that more release announcements will definitely to come at E3. The games original date of Aug 22, would have given the game some breathing room. Shadow of Mordor, was only facing competition from Destiny 2, which out in Sept.
However, October will be tough as you will expect to see Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed game and many others. We will find out at E3, when the annual announcements of game/platform are done and dusted, if it was a wise decision to delay the project.
