Many of the UK’s leading party leader has also condemned and shown their condolences via twitter.

In a message on Twitter Mr Corbyn said: “Terrible incident in Manchester. My thoughts are with all those affected and our brilliant emergency services.”

Mr Farron said: “This is a shocking and horrific attack targeting children and young people who were simply enjoying a concert.

“My deepest sympathies are with the victims, and with families who have lost loved ones, as well as those desperately waiting for news.

“I would like to pay tribute to the bravery and dedication of the emergency services.”

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins of Greater Manchester Police has said in an official statement: “We are currently treating this as a terrorist incident until we have further information.

“This is clearly a very concerning time for everyone. We’re doing all we can…to support those affected as we gather info about what happened last night.”

Reported to BBC Greater Manchester metro mayor Andy Burnham said: “My heart goes out to families who have lost loved ones, my admiration to our brave emergency services. A terrible night for our great city.”
