The latest addition to Tekken’s guest character list is the legendary Fatal Fury and King of Fighters character Gees Howard.
Director Katsuhiro Harada announced at the Tekken 7 grand finals at Evo 2017, that title’s newest guest character is none other than Geese Howard.
Geese Howard is the legendary villain in SNK’s Fatal Fury franchise and also features in King of Fighters games as well.
Geese, first appeared in 1991’s SNK classic Fata Fury: King of Fighters as the local crime boss. He is also the chief antagonist of the Fatal Fury series and a secondary villain in the Art of Fighting game series. Clearly the history of the character tells us that he is not going to be a good guy in the game.
Geese will join Street Fighter’s Akuma, which was announced in the beginning of the game as a non-Namco guest character in the fighting game series. It wasn’t a surprise that Bandai Namco and Capcom were working together to bring SF characters in to Tekken 7, as Harada has planned to release a SF cross Tekken game in the future and it was a nice platform to introduce Akuma into Tekken series to develop interest of Street Fighter fan into the new Tekken 7 game.
However, from a fighting games perspective it was a complete surprise that SNK would have from one of their most famous villains Gees Howard in Tekken 7 series. We have seen Capcom and SNK cross over before in the game like Capcom vs SNK before but this is the first time we have witnessed an SNK character introduction in Namco’s best ever fighting games.
Geese Howard will be released as Tekken 7’s DL2 in winter 2017, and it’s first DLC will be release in August which will include Tekken Bowl and some new costumes. The Tekken 7 season pass mentions two additional playable characters for download from whom one of them is Geese Howard.
