How I Met Your Mother (also known as HIMYM) was a very good comic season and was well-received by the audience. Though, the season never matched the quality of Friends, it was still followed by many and its ending was the most-talked after show was ended.
Warning: If you haven’t watched the season, there are SPOILERS ahead!
So, HIMYM was all about friendship and relationship between a group of tightly knit friends (almost exactly like Friends), but had just one major difference.
The overall story of the sitcom was a story of Ted, who is in year 2030 and telling his son and daughter about how he met their mother (as the name of the show suggests!).
But the finale of the season didn’t go down very well with the fans. Therefore, the finale is a pretty infamous one.
Now, one of the stars from the show also agrees with those who think that the show didn’t end the way it should have, or according to the expectations of viewers.
Alyson Hannigan (Lily), in her recent interview with news.com.au, she expressed her feelings about how the finale disappointed people. “I didn’t think Barney should have ever gotten married… I liked Barney and Robin. But in my heart, I always wanted her with Ted. I just feel they (Barney and Robin) shouldn’t have gotten married.”
She further added, “I was bummed they didn’t just make it a two-hour season-ender, so they would get to show certain parts [that were cut]. The table read for the finale was so good, so right, but it was also like 14 hours long. So, when I actually saw the final version of the show, I was like ‘they cut out everything!’”
“It just seemed too quick. Obviously, it was a tear-jerker, but with all the stuff that got cut out it was too fast … like ‘OK, now we’re going to find out the mum’s dead, then suddenly, OK — he’s with Robin now’, and you’re just like, ‘wait, what happened?!’”
“I didn’t think Barney should have ever gotten married. I liked Barney and Robin. But in my heart, I always wanted her with Ted. I just feel they [Barney and Robin] shouldn’t have gotten married.”
Well, seems like that she indeed was disappointed with the ending of HIMYM. Although, she also shared why this season was so special for her. “We all appreciated it while we had it – we knew how special it was. I don’t think that always happens.”
